Kegek Tuun, the God of Lost Socks
In the days of old, men loved and feared their Gods. The Great Pantheon held sway over the lives of all; making men wage wars, fall in love, build wonders, rule peacefully over their lands, or be overthrown...all according to the whims of the Gods.
The deities of this world had voices within everything, from famine, pestilance, war..to love, peace, wisdom, and benevolance. The primary deities, the main figureheads of the Great Pantheon, played with the lives of mortals as they saw fit with nearly limitless powers. Then there are the lesser deities, with voices of a shorter range, having powers that only stretched as far as the bounds of their chosen field. And then...there are the minor deities....
The minor deities have tremendous power...but it can only be used for very specific things. Kegek Tuun is one of these minor deities, but make no mistake! His powers are great and terrible to behold. This is his story...
Somewhere, a mortal is in a state of distress. The foolish creature has done the unforgiveable; the unthinkable...it has lost its sock! Despair not though; Kegek Tuun of the Living Sock will be there to make things right. Armed with his enchanted accordion, he plays a hauntingly..cheerful tune. And there, in the corner of the room late at night, when the mortals slumber, he sits on the toes of your shoes, playing the Song of the Lost. The notes sing out from his squeezebox and seem to materialize in the air, hovering just o'er head. With a wink of his eye and a merry grin, the music twists and spins to form a glittering, golden thread. Then with a hearty chuckle, he kicks two bright silver buttons into the air with his large (well..relatively speaking..) toes and begins to sew with his music.
Cotton responds to His Grace this eve; lo! See how the sock rises from the confines of the shoe, long forgotten and asleep. Carefully, the tune continues until the buttons are sewn into place...with a yawn and a stretch, Cotton awakens now and begins to dance to the tune of Kegek Tuun, his master, the God of Lost Socks. And before you can blink...they are gone, off into the night to free the many other lost socks from their bondage, and bring them to a new, happier life in the hallowed halls of Kegek Tuun's home.
